Because if anyone knew the arabs, they aren't anti imperialists or anti empires if it was their own, their history revolves around empires [especially the first four caliphates] 

These are the same people who wanted to establish a pan arab state after taking out the ottomans with the help of the british just so they could relive their arab glory days 

Arabs simply are scared of competition because they know they have lands they shouldn't, they shouldn't have  touched an inch from covenent that they keep breaking

Using Occam’s razor would rule it out as nothing  by more than fringe conspiracies by antisemites in the same vane as “Protocols of the Elders of Zion”. 

Israel is a tiny tiny country. Even if backed by the U.S. is it literally impossible for Israel to expand and conquer the “Greater Israel” territories (which conveniently include most Arab capitals as way to further inflame tensions). There is no way logistically it would be possible. Even if all Arab militaries disappeared it would be impossible to govern and control the tens of millions of very upset Arabs and Tribes. 

The burden is on the crazies to provide evidence and actually a plan for how something so far from reality is even possible.

I think the problem with the phrase “greater Israel” is that it has two meanings. Some in Israel want a greater Israel as in having the territories (at least Judea and Samaria/the West Bank) be part of Israel proper. The folks you are mentioning are projecting pan Arab ideas of Islamic imperialism of the Levant onto this phrase. 

But is paranoia by everyone in the Middle East at all surprising? 🤷‍♂️ As the joke goes, “Just because I’m paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get me.”

I just looked up maps of Greater Israel from my alma mater’s databases-what lunacy. Israel wants to expand its borders to acquire rickety economic backwaters? Yes, makes total sense. Their behavior prior to 10/7 was they wanted nothing to do with a strip of land roughly the size of Manhattan, I’d consider that a notable revealed preference. Especially notable with their own economic and demographic data showing housing shortage, failure to build enough in line with population growth. 

Imagine being an analyst, specialist of any sort, where your job is to prepare a rigorous and nuanced critique of an Israeli policy-could be internal and external. A few peers of yours grapple with your work. While borderline illiterate conspiracies only gain salience.

Many symbols during the 1948 war and the prior interior conflicts had transjordan also marked as Jewish territory, but this was back before the concept of a state of Jordan even existed. That’s the extent I’ve ever seen Israel’s borders theoretically expanded. I think this might be the origination of the nonsense greater Israel claim.

Yes, it seems like utter lunacy to me, and I've said as much before on reddit and on twitter, but it's not helped by Jewish and Israeli tweets like this one advocating (though it's mostly a joke) Israel annex part of Syria to protect the Druze. I can also show you many more such tweets from Jews and Israelis with large follower counts. It's frustrating to say the least because there's no longer any such thing as an in-joke that won't be used against Jews or Israel.
